Glass Doors and Walls Designed to Impress

I return to our Back Bay project for an awesome glass reveal.

GLASS, GLASS, AND MORE GLASS

The frosted glass pocket door is in—separating the primary bedroom from the bathroom—and it slides effortlessly with the Eclipse hardware. We’ll be adding stainless hardware for the pull. And now that the door is in, we can finish the blue board and plaster and get this bedroom wrapped up.

The glass walls in the shower have been installed. They are completely clear and almost disappear, as does the buried glass channel on the floor and wall.

And there’s more… The glass for the mono stringer has been securely attached to every single tread. The guys did a thorough job at protecting and covering it. The glass ties into the ceiling so now we can finish the adjacent plaster.

Lastly, the glass half-wall on the floor above is exactly in line with the glass wall that follows the staircase down to the next floor and the subsequent half-wall. Like a giant Z pattern all the way down. Amazing!

LED LIGHTING IN THE SHADOW REVEAL

Let’s talk about this killer detail: When contemplating how to add adequate lighting to the lower staircase, Nick knocked this one out of the park. This staircase goes down to the common hallway and needs to be lit up. We didn’t want to add wall sconces or put lights under the stairs above. The solution: In the shadow gap detail that continues all the way up the stairs, Nick had a company make an LED strip that fits snugly in the gap. Now the stairs have plenty of light coming from the shadow gaps on each side.

Innovative. Beautiful. Intentionally crafted.
